Is restarting Certify broken in 5.0.12?

When I click the Update Available button, it closes down Certify and installs the latest update and says “restarting application” but the Certify UI never automatically opens. Maybe that is the Certify Service, but I would like the Certify UI to launch after the upgrade is done, rather than having to manually launch it.

No, it’s a compromise. The (InnoSetup) installer has a silent mode that doesn’t ask questions, which we use for the in-app update and for people installing via package managers like Chocolatey - unfortunately it’s a requirement of choco that the silent installer doesn’t create any GUI/windows. We could maybe do some sort of custom command line switch but I haven’t investigated that yet.

But that’s been like that since 4.x, so it’s not a new thing.
